Student and parent questions

Everything you need to know

Helpful information when choosing classes within the Ignite and Legacy programme.

What ages are Ignite and Legacy for?
This page is designed for students from School Year 7 through to age 18. Individual classes may have more specific school-year ranges, which are shown in the timetable.
What is the difference between Ignite and Legacy?
Ignite commonly covers the younger part of the senior pathway, while Legacy classes commonly support older secondary-school and college-age students. The programmes are kept together because several classes and progression routes overlap.
Can a student take more than one style?
Yes. Students can combine dance, acrobatics, aerial hoop, cheer or pom classes to create a weekly timetable that suits their interests and goals.
Why are some classes shared with younger students?
Some aerial hoop, acrobatics and pom classes cover a wider range of school years. This allows students to train in a suitable group based on the class structure, stage or ability level.
Can a new student join a Level 2+ or Level 3+ class?
These classes require the stated skill level. New students should normally select a general class first unless the Base Dance team has confirmed that the levelled class is appropriate.
What should they wear for their trial?
Comfortable clothing that allows free movement is suitable for an initial trial. The team can explain the relevant uniform, footwear and hair requirements once the class has been selected.
