Dancers of this genre have the ability to shape a performance based on their unique interpretations, achieved through honing techniques such as strong leg movements influenced by ballet, fall and recovery, floor work, and improvisational elements.

Performing barefoot is common in contemporary dance, as it allows for greater fluidity in movement and enhances the connection to the dance surface.

One of the defining features of contemporary dance is improvisation. Unlike more structured dance styles such as ballet, contemporary dance embraces fluid movements and improvisation to evoke emotions in the audience. It also provides dancers with an outlet for creative expression, enabling them to deliver a personal and meaningful performance.

"Recreational Program Opportunities" - In our Recreational Programs, dancers will advance their skills through progressions assessed by our examinations board. They will also have the chance to showcase their abilities in our annual performance and have the option to participate in local competitions.

"Assessing Progress with Examinations" - As part of our progressive training in traditional classes, we use a spiral curriculum and periodic examinations to track students' progress and enhance their enjoyment of the art. These evaluations take place twice a year, providing students with opportunities to move forward in their training and continue to grow their skills.

"Competitive Contemporary Team Program" - To participate in our Competitive Team Programs, students must attend our Contemporary Academies and a dedicated team class. They will also have the opportunity to participate in all recreational programs and work with the team to master group routines for competitions.
