Our Background

Claire Lloyd, the founder and principal of Base-Dance has been dancing since the age of 3. Adopting many styles such as, Ballet, Tap, Modern, National, Musical Theatre, Freestyle, Street, and Hip Hop, performing in shows and competing in dance festivals. I completed my ISTD dance exams (Imperial society of Teachers of Dancing) at Merseyside School of dance. I have danced and trained with many professional dancers who have performed with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Girls Aloud and the Sugarbabes.

Many of these dancers also have dance schools of their own and they have encouraged me to do the same. So with the support of my husband, for you, I’ve created Base-dance! I've heard so many people say 'I want to dance, but there is nowhere that does it locally'. I wanted to give other people the chance to experience dance, whether it’s just for fun or perhaps the start of an exciting new career!

At 23, I started a family, so for the last 4 years my dancing has been 'on hold'. After my second child was born, I decided it was time to share my love for dance. I got involved with a local dance school in Burscough and helped out with their show. I have also choreographed dances for a pantomime at a school in Skelmersdale working with the dance teacher at Burscough, School of dance. I have attended a dance school in Merseyside for 3 years now and am currently studying to gain teachers qualifications with IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association). I’m also a registered member of Foundation for community dance.

Having danced for 22 years cumulatively, I now feel I'm ready to fulfil my ambition to share this passion with anyone who wants to experience and enjoy dance the way I do.

My one goal is to create a fun learning environment where everyone feels welcome. I will not tolerate anyone who attempts to compromise this. I believe that no matter your age, ability or sex you should never feel unwelcome. We were all beginners once!

Chris Lloyd, My husband is helping support the business, He is behind the Marketing, Logistics, Accounts, Website, and Merchandise; forms etc. He will be leading and assisting in the classes while he continues to develop his skills in this field.

Becky Nichols, Our newest addition, Becky has danced since the age of 4 years, Learning styles include ballroom , tap, ballet and hip hop, She has performed in many shows, competitions and events Such as MTV Road Shows, Commonwealth games closing ceremony and launch events. Becky has worked and trained with dancers who have worked with Blue and FIVE. Becky has gone from ballet and tap too hip hop when she supported her local schools with Christmas productions etc, And has Lead Classes with agencies from the age of 16 years.

Base-Dance is now stocking merchandise, which will help you feel and LOOK the part. I will do my best to keep these prices low and keep trade with local business only. With the rapid growth of Hip Hop and Street dance and the world getting back to what she loves most, dancing to music; you will start to feel a part of this very quickly.
